Accelerated Reader is reading comprehension. The tests are questions about the book, the story and details within the story.
Read with your child, ask them who, what, when, where questions about the story and what happens.

Our Accelerated Reader 9 weeks schedule:
1st nine weeks - 8-15-05 thru 10-12-05
2nd nine weeks - 10-13-05 thru 12-19-05
3rd nine weeks - 12-20-05 thru 3-8-06
4th nine weeks - 3-9-06 thru 5-19-06
We are very proud of our Accelerated Reader program. It is a great program designed to help childern learn to read and develop a love for reading and books. Knowledge is the key to success and reading is the key to knowledge! We reward our accelerated readers with certificates at the Honors Assembly and each week the top AR readers get recognized at our morning assembly.

Accelerated Reader vs. Non-Accelerated Reader: How Students Using Accelerated Reader Outperformed the Control Condition in a Tightly Controlled Experimental Study

This randomized experimental study involved third- and fifth-grade classrooms. Students using Accelerated Reader significantly outperformed students not using the program on the American Guidance Service Grade Reading Test in reading comprehension. These gains were especially pronounced for students with low reading ability. |
